Welcome to the home of the Denbigh High School PTSA. There are several things that the Denbigh High School PTSA does for the students, staff, and the community of Denbigh and Newport News.
After Prom
Each year the DHS PTSA sponsors, plans, and hosts the DHS After Prom. We do this in an effort to give our youth a safe, drug-free environment to celebrate and have fun.
Planning for the 2008-2009 after prom will be starting soon. It takes an army of parents and volunteers to make this a success. There are decorations to be decided on, food to be planned and the list goes on. Don't think that just because you don't have a senior that you are not needed this year. Start now learning the ropes so that you will know what to do to make your students after prom a roaring success. To all students, ESPECIALLY SENIORS, the after prom is for you come to the meetings and tell us what you want!
Teacher Appreciation
Each year the DHS PTSA sponsors, plans, and hosts a Teacher Appreciation Luncheon during Teacher Appreciation Week. We also try to find some small goodies to give each teacher.
I know everyone remembers doing things for their child's elementary school teachers for teacher appreciation. We'll we do the same types of things they may not be taking care of our "little" angels, but they are working hard with our young adults!
Additional Notes
Your Denbigh High School PTSA would like to implement several new programs this year. Including but not limited to scholarship training, college workshops, and career fairs. We intend to continue with our Teens Against Violence Symposium again this year. Please take the time to come out to a meeting, get to know the other parents and the students. This is a wonderful partnership between Parents, Teachers and Students that if you used to best of our advantage can continue to make Denbigh one of the top schools in the area.
We are currently looking for someone interested in filling our Vice President position. The vice president shall act as an aide to the president, shall perform the duties of the president in the event that the president is unable to. In other words you get to be Tanya's partner in crime. Come to a meeting check it out see if you might be interested in joining our wonderful team of parents.
